Gallatin, TN - John Franklin North, age 80 of Gallatin, TN, passed away Tuesday June 24, 2025.

Born July 16, 1944 in Fallen Timber Pennsylvania to the late William North and Louise Fox North. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean North. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Amy Weikel (Jeff) of Upper Black Eddy, PA and Erin Thompson (Rick) of Gallatin, TN; two beloved grandsons, Jake Thompson and Isaac Thompson; his sister Rita Farrell (Dan); and his cousins Lydia Fox and Paulette Guiste.

John moved to Trafford, PA when he was young and after completing his education, he entered the United States Army serving most of his time stationed in Germany. When he returned home, he met and married Barbara and started their family. He proudly served his community as an EMT and founding member of Trafford EMS. In 1985 while working for U.S. Steel, he moved the family to Southampton, PA in suburban Philadelphia and later went to work for Hoeganaes Corporation as Safety Director. He travelled regularly in this position, including many trips to Romania. In 1999 he was transferred to the Gallatin, TN plant where he continued as Corporate Safety Director until his retirement. After retirement he worked for several years as a school crossing guard for the Sumner County Sheriff's Department and later Gallatin Police. He loved working on decorative wood crafts with Barbara and always had the best decorated house at Christmas time. He took great pride in their home and enjoyed working outside in the yard.

Two years ago, when his health declined and he could no longer live on his own, he moved to Capstone Assisted Living at Station Camp. While this was a difficult transition, it quickly became his new home where he made new friends with wonderful staff and fellow residents.

Service and Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to Capstone at Station Camp or Highpoint Hospice of Gallatin.
