Gallatin, TN - Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Griffy passed away June 14, 2025 at age 88. He is survived by his wife, Rowena Overton Griffy, of 69 years of marriage.

The Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Westmoreland, TN. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

T.J. was born July 11, 1936 in Nashville, TN to Vernie Keen Griffy. He grew up in Gallatin and attended Gallatin High School. He worked in the food industry beginning with A&P Tea Company in 1953 and then continued in the food industry working with Wholesale and Sysco food services then eventually retiring from Milbrook Distribution Services in 1997. T.J. received an Associates Degree from Vol State Community College.

He enjoyed cooking, the great outdoors and jigsaw puzzles. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the late 1960's and was of the Baptist faith. Thomas and Rowena loved life together traveling on many occasions around our country and to foreign destinations.

He is also survived by his four sons, Thomas A. Griffy (Starr) of Hendersonville, Jeffrey Lee Griffy of South Carolina, Cary Griffy of Albuquerque, and Barton W. Griffy (Cherie) of Crossville, Tennessee; sister Myrna King of Bell Buckle; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Vernie Keen and his infant grandchild, Joshua Bryton Griffy.
